On the 23rd of September 2025, Risidale Primary School Hall came alive with colour, creativity, and rhythm as the InterSen Phase hosted its much-anticipated Arts Festival under the theme “A Journey Through Time.”

Each grade took the audience on a nostalgic trip through the decades; Grade 4 brought the vibrant spirit of the 1990s to life, Grade 5 dazzled with the electric energy of the 1980s, Grade 6 grooved through the funky 1970s, and Grade 7 charmed the crowd with the timeless tunes of the swinging 1960s.
This spectacular event was organised, planned, and executed by the talented trio, Mrs Jordan, Ms Koza, and Ms K. Pillay, who worked tirelessly to bring the evening to life. In the weeks leading up to the festival, auditions were held where learners showcased their talents through songs, dances, and poetry inspired by their chosen decade. After much excitement and anticipation, the top achievers were selected and guided in preparing for the grand gala evening.
Learners expressed themselves through solo and group dance performances, vocal composition, and poetry recitations in either English, Afrikaans, or isiZulu. Each performance reflected not only the style of its decade but also the personality and creativity of every participant.
The evening was brilliantly hosted by three confident Grade 7 learners, Suvaarn Puckaree, Tinashe Mutiba, and Ceana Pillay, who kept the audience entertained and kept the show running smoothly. The energy in the hall was contagious, as parents, teachers, and friends clapped, sang along, and celebrated every act that took to the stage.
The festival was more than just a showcase of talent, it was a celebration of teamwork, confidence, and artistic expression. A heartfelt thank-you goes out to all the learners for their dedication, to the parents for their unwavering support, and to the educators whose hard work made the evening an unforgettable success.
